The CMFPL Newsletter (available in print with newer editions also available online) went through various changes over time as did the Library. The newer online editions can now be viewed as pdf files through the CMFPL website. Archives have to be requested at this time. Maurine's column is available through 2017. It, too, went through various changes under different library Directors. For one, Maurine mastered Word Perfect after the age of 65! However, one constant remained the same: the readership loved her column! Below are columns printed in 2016 and 2017, available also in print through archives, or you may contact Patrice Donnelly for copies at patrice@memorialformrd.com .

L: 2017 was Maurine's last visit to Maryland. In this picture we were having lunch at Great Sage, Columbia, Maryland;
R: 2018 was the first year Maurine required a wheelchair. Eric added accessibility structures to the home. Maurine remained at home, according to her wishes, until the last day of her life.
Maurine developed arthritis at a moderate level in her 50s. She continued to walk, work, and travel as she treated her arthritis with conventional and complementary treatments into her early 80s. However, her arthritis became severe in her mid 80s, inhibiting her ability to walk and work. She reduced her hours at the library, though continued to work part-time, in good health otherwise. In 2015 Maurine retired after 50 years of service to the Center Moriches Public Library.
It is not clear when Maurine first began battling cancer, but her first diagnosis was in 2019 when after numerous tests cancer was finally detected. By then the cancer had spread to multiple organs and was in its late stage. Maurine was no longer a candidate for any form of chemotherapy, including immunotherapy, which is often recommended for geriatric patients. Maurine died several months after the diganosis of cancer at the age of 87.
Maurine leaves a loving legacy of art and life for all who knew and loved her. May her spirit continue to soar and live among us in our memories, reflected in our lives, and may the soul of Maurine Rose Donnelly rest in peace.
